Who are we ?
TAWIA is a voluntary, Non-profit, Autonomous, Non-Partisan and Non-Governmental Association established in 2014 legally registered under the societies Act, with Registration number S.A 19708. TAWIA aims at building capacities of widows to champion for improving their lives and dignity in the society, improving their health, erasing social stigmatization and economic deprivation that confronts them; eliminating sexual abuse and exploitation risks; accessing justice and removing barriers to resources and economic opportunities that that constrain their future, done through a cohesive and interactive membership.
Why our organization ?
Our organization is more concerned with;
- Capacity building and economic empowerment for widows
- Legal empowerment and assistance to widows
- Promotion and monitoring of State-treaty based obligations on rights of women
- Advocate for international mechanism for protection of widows
- Solidarity and coalition for widows protection and resources ownership
- Promote widows participation in decision-making and their right to equal access to resources, employment, markets and trade.
- Influence institutions and public policies advancement of SDGs ancillary to widows
- Promotion of human rights and campaign against gender based violence.
