In the year two thousand and twenty-one, a Pan-African workshop was held in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, from June 1 to 15, bringing together youth human rights defenders from Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Mali, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania (Mainland and Zanzibar), Chad and Togo.
The purpose of the workshop was to provide a forum for African Youth Defenders working on community-based projects to share experiences on their daily activities and on current challenges in Africa.
After two weeks of fruitful exchanges on the current and emerging challenges of the continent, the general situation of governance across countries including corruption, human rights violations, armed conflicts, etc… it was decided to establishment a pan-African network called Young African Defenders in Action (YADA). This decision was materialized by the holding of a General Assembly at the end of the activities during which the constitutive texts were validated, the election of a coordination team in charge of the implementation of strategic and operational objectives.

YADA Network is already established in 18 african countries and has its own social media for African activists.
